GETTING AROUND SICILY

HIGHWAYS The Highway A18 Messina - Catania connect the main 2 cities of eastern Sicily. The main localities to visit along the way are: Taormina, Giarre, Acireale. Pay toll.
The newest highway A18 Catania - Syracuse - Rosolini, connect Syracuse to some of the main localities of its province, like Avola, Noto, Rosolini. At the moment it's a free highway.
The highway A19 Palermo - Catania, is 193 Kms long and it connects the main cities of the island. It crosses the provinces of Palermo, Caltanissetta, Enna and Catania. From here you can easily reach the small villages of the Madonie mountains, Cefalù, the industrial area of Termini Imerese (PA) and the area of Dittaino (EN). It's a free highway.
The highway A20 Palermo - Messina is 215 kms long. Long this highway you can admire the panorama of the Tyrrhenian coast. It crosses the following localities: Milazzo, Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto, Patti, Capo d'Orlando, Sant'Agata di Militello, Cefalù, Termini Imerese e Bagheria. Pay toll.
The highway A29 Palermo - Mazzara del Vallo and the Alcamo - Trapani branch. (Both free highways). These highways connect Palermo to the western area of Sicily. The main localities along the way are: Alcamo, Castellammare del Golfo, Castelvetrano, Mazara del Vallo.
The RA15 or Tangenziale of Catania is an important ring road that enable to bypass the city centre of Catania. It joins the different highways, Messina - Catania, Catania- Syracuse and Catania- Palermo and many national roads of eastern Sicily.
